MONEY

In Vung Tau, the Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency. Although the US Dollar (USD) may be accepted at some high-end hotels, resorts or shops catering to tourists, most shopping, dining and daily services still use VND. Credit card payments are widely accepted at shopping malls, large restaurants and hotels, however, visitors are advised to bring cash when visiting local markets, roadside eateries or small tourist attractions.

WEATHER

The best time to travel to Vung Tau is from November to April of the following year, when the weather is dry, sunny, the sea is clear and the waves are calm, very favorable for swimming, exploring the beautiful scenery and enjoying seafood. From May to October is the rainy season, but the rains are usually short, the weather is still sunny and the sea is still attractive to tourists because of the fresh, cool air.

VISA EXEMPTION & E-VISA

International visitors to Vung Tau often enter Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) with visa exemption or electronic visa (e-visa). Citizens from 13 countries such as Germany, France, UK, Japan, South Korea... are exempted from visa for up to 45 days, and from March 1, 2025, this policy will be extended to Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland. Visitors from other countries can apply for a 90-day e-visa, single or multiple entries. The e-visa procedure is done online through the Vietnam Immigration Department's Information Portal, making visiting Vung Tau convenient and quick.

LANGUAGE

In Vung Tau, Vietnamese is the main language used in daily communication. However, in tourist areas, hotels, restaurants and famous attractions, English is also widely used to serve international tourists. Thanks to the stable number of international visitors, especially Korean and Russian visitors, many service industry staff in Vung Tau can also communicate in basic Korean or Russian, making it easier for tourists to visit, relax and experience this coastal city.

SOCKET

Sockets in Vung Tau use 220V - 50Hz electricity, compatible with most common electronic devices. Common socket types include type A, C and G, of which type C (two round pins) is the most commonly used. Visitors from countries with different socket standards may need to bring an adapter to ensure proper operation of their personal devices.

CIGARETTE

In Vung Tau, smoking is prohibited in enclosed spaces such as shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and air-conditioned public areas. Some resorts and tourist attractions also have a no-smoking policy on their premises to ensure a clean environment.
Visitors are only allowed to smoke in designated areas. Please pay attention to the signs and follow the rules to help keep the city clean and beautiful.

TIP

In Vung Tau, tipping tour guides, drivers, restaurant or hotel staff is not mandatory. The amount of tip usually depends on the experience and satisfaction of the guest, usually about 5-10% of the bill at high-end restaurants or a small amount for the service staff. Leaving a tip shows respect and contributes to improving the quality of local tourism services.

WIFI & CONNECTIVITY

In Vung Tau, visitors can easily access free Wi-Fi at most cafes, restaurants, hotels and many tourist areas, public beaches in the city. If you need a stable and continuous internet connection, buying a 4G SIM card is still a convenient choice. Visitors often buy SIM cards right at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) before traveling to Vung Tau, or buy them at convenience stores, mobile phone stores in the city center.
