Vung Tau is about 100km from Ho Chi Minh City, one of the destinations near Saigon chosen by many tourists for their weekend getaways. From Ho Chi Minh City, you can easily get to Vung Tau by bus, private car or motorbike.
There are currently many bus companies operating continuously on the Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau route with a frequency of about 15-30 minutes/trip, departing from bus stations such as Mien Dong, or offices in the city center. Some reputable companies include: Phuong Trang, Hoa Mai, Toan Thang, Thanh Vinh, Kumho Samco... Ticket prices range from 90,000 - 160,000 VND/trip, depending on the type of regular car or luxury limousine.
The average travel time is about 2-2.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. With high-quality limousines, passengers can be picked up at their destination in the inner city of Ho Chi Minh City and the center of Vung Tau.
If traveling by private car or motorbike, you can follow the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, then turn onto Highway 51 towards Ba Ria - Vung Tau. This route is easy to travel, has good infrastructure, and has many convenient stops.
BY WATER
In addition to the road, visitors from Ho Chi Minh City can also experience the Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau high-speed train, an interesting choice with a journey to see the Saigon River, Nha Be and Vung Tau sea from the deck.
The high-speed train departs from Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) to Cau Da Port (Vung Tau City), operated by GreenlinesDP. There are 4-6 trains operating every day, with a travel time of about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Ticket prices range from 240,000 - 320,000 VND/trip, depending on seat class and age.
The train space is modern, with air conditioning, wifi, luggage compartment and outdoor seating area. This is a suitable choice if you want to experience a more relaxing and less dusty journey than by road.
