Over 90 days and nights of rapid construction dedicated to Ho Chi Minh City, a new symbol
The park was inaugurated on the evening of February 12, 2026, amidst an exceptionally tight schedule, to be ready for service to the people during the Lunar New Year – a time when Vietnamese people turn to their roots, express gratitude, and commemorate. The construction site operated on a continuous 3-shift, 4-team model; at its peak, over 500 engineers and workers were working day and night.
Ly Thai To Park No. 1 creates a "green quiet space" in the center of the super-metropolis Ho Chi Minh City
Under conditions close to Tet, it is not easy to mobilize personnel and equipment, but the contractor still maintains a continuous construction density. Three stone processing plants operated for 40 days to exploit over 2,500m³ of raw stone, creating 1,350m³ of finished products for construction on an area of over 23,000m².
The implementation team also had to race against time every day to gather enough high-grade 30mm thick Indian granite – a material rare in the market which is commonly 20mm thick. At the same time, 25 artisans from Non Nuoc Stone Village – Ngu Hanh Son and 30 machine operators worked continuously in 3 shifts for 30 days, to craft exquisite stone details, ensuring traditional handicraft value and high aesthetic quality.
Meaningful quotes are placed within the campus of Ly Thai To Park No. 1
Completing the project in over 90 days not only demonstrates the construction organization capacity and great determination of Ho Chi Minh City and Sun Group , but also a meaningful effort: to give people a space for gratitude right at the end of the year and to welcome the new spring with bright faith and hope.
The centerpiece of the park is the square where the Water Drop Monument made of mirror stainless steel is located
The centerpiece of the park is the 6m high, 13m circumference "Water Drop" Monument, located in the center of a 1,800m² circular square. The image of a water drop hitting the ground creates a hollow like a "memory pit," recalling the losses the city experienced during the pandemic. From that focal point, concentric circles expand outwards, symbolizing the regenerative power of a compassionate city – a place where pain is transformed into love, solidarity, and the aspiration to rise.
Inside the water drop is the image of a heart – a symbol of affection and gratitude. The mirror stainless steel surface reflects the figures of people standing around, like a message that this memory is a shared memory. The city has gone through challenges together, and it is this unity that has created the energy to keep moving forward.
The heart-shaped carved water drop monument carries many symbolic meanings
The entire park is planned for multi-functional use, preserving existing green spaces and renovating old structures into exhibition areas, libraries, and cultural-artistic spaces. For its inauguration, the over 4-hectare area was organized into a spring flower festival with tens of thousands of plants and flower pots, becoming a new destination for residents during the early days of the Year of the Horse.
Assessing the project, Dr. Tran Hoang Ngan – National Assembly Deputy of Ho Chi Minh City – commented that this is not just a new park, but “a place where everyone wants to immerse themselves to reflect on life and find new energy”. According to him, it is rare for a public project to receive such broad consensus and empathy from the community upon its announcement.
He believes that converting a prime location in the city center into a park instead of commercial development carries significant meaning: “The land could have been used for many purposes. But choosing to make it a park – a symbolic project recognizing the unity and solidarity of the people in overcoming the pandemic – was a decision that resonated with the public.”
The park creates many green spaces for the people of Ho Chi Minh City
From the Tam Thang tower to the "water drop" statue - humane symbols shaping the urban landscape
Before Ly Thai To Park No. 1 , the Tam Thang Tower in Vung Tau is also a meaningful social project that Sun Group dedicates to Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of 155 billion VND, completed in just 75 days and nights.
The tower consists of 143 pillars, ranging from 4.55m to over 34.25m in height, arranged in increasing order towards the sea, inspired by the image of three boats sailing strongly offshore, recreating the story of the three villages of Thang Nhat, Thang Nhi, and Thang Tam associated with the mission of protecting the sea and islands since the time of King Gia Long. The Tam Thang Square is designed as a multi-functional community space in the Bai Sau area, with the Vong Canh Cape, 3.6m high, opening up a panoramic view of the coastal city.
Tam Thang Tower and the “Water Droplet” Monument are humanistic symbols shaping the urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City.
The common ground between Tam Thang Tower and the “Water Droplet” Monument is the mindset of creating central symbols for each space. One structure reaching high by the sea and sky, one structure nestled deep in the heart of the city – but both share a common value: conveying history, memory, and aspirations for development.
On its journey towards becoming a modern and distinctive metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City prioritizes people and quality of life. Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is therefore not just a landscape project, but also a testament to the collaboration between the government and private enterprises in creating sustainable social values. For Sun Group, this is a gift of gratitude to the city named after Uncle Ho, and a commitment to community development, wherever the Group sets foot.
